Home to “the friendliest town around,” Delta County Colorado is an agricultural gem perched on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains, boasting rolling hills covered in fruit orchards, curly white dairy goats, and world renowned vineyards. It has long been known as a producer of clean coal, and has now been recognized as a “Colorado Creative District” by the state as well. Artisans, musicians and entertainers abound.

Delta County is one of those rare places where complete strangers will still smile and wave when you pass by…

The county sits on the west side of the West Elk Wilderness, and is part of 2 separate mountain ranges – the majestic peaks of the West Elk mountains, and the largest flat top mesa in the world, Grand Mesa. Home to a thriving deer and elk population, the area welcomes hunters from around the country every fall. Three state parks, Crawford Lake, Sweitzer Lake and Paonia State Parks reside inside the county lines. To the west are three National Conservation Areas, the highest concentration of lands with this designation in the country. The Dominguez, Escalante and Gunnison Gorge NCAs feature exceptional scientific, cultural, ecological, historical, and recreational values.  The Gunnison Gorge NCA provides anglers access to the pristine Gold Metal fishing waters of the Gunnison River. The elevations range from the low 4,828′ in the floor of Escalante Canyon to the 11,550′ of Wilson Peak on Grand Mesa. From boating the rivers; to alpine or Nordic skiing; to mountain biking a host of trails, the recreation possibilities are truly remarkable.
